A Book Written in 30 Days!
Well, I had a good innings… but we’ve arrived at day 26 and I’ve got a cold! I’m not feeling fantastic, but day one of re-writing went to schedule. Not quite as much fun as the writing, but I am relieved to find that what I ploughed through initially hangs together well, and I think I’m pretty happy with it so far. The 50K NaNoWriMo target has been hit comfortably, even allowing for modest lost during the rewrite and edit phases. Getting a book written in 30 days continues to push me, but only four days to go!
As you may recall from Part 1, the twenty-sixth day of the challenge for book writing month is the first day of rewriting. The first third of the book has been revisited, but honestly I struggle to differentiate the concepts of ‘rewrite’ and ‘edit’. The first third of the book is as good as I’m going to be able to make it within the confines of this challenge, which may even mean that with 5 days for rewrite ad edit I am a fraction ahead of schedule. I have a distinct advantage in dragging my sister into this as a second pair of eyes and punctuation-pedant! The word count has crept up to 60,330, and I’ve also created social media pages for the book in readiness for launch in a week or so.
Day 26 finished, a book written and one-third checked for sense and structure. Owing to my cold I’m going to call it a night! I’m very excited for you to join me on this journey, so subscribe to be kept up to date.
